Work With Us

What we work on
Staying safe in digital environments

Worried about what AI and social media are doing to your kids, students or community? Our workshops, classes and AI policies help families and communities stay safe online, keep their data private, and set their own rules for tech.See the work →

Independent tech audits

Debating a digital surveillance system or AI product? We test what it actually does, using real data, and show how it affects your community.See the work →

Program development, strategy, and evaluation

We've designed and led fellowships, research institutes and programs, and we bring that experience to your strategy, monitoring and evaluation, grant writing, and funder reports.See the work →

Community tech tools/products

Community-owned internet, radio and data that keep working in an emergency. We help communities grow their own mesh networks and own their own data in tools maintained by the people who use them.See the work →

Alternatives to big tech

Want to move away from big tech platforms? We help you switch to tools you control: open-source software, AI that runs offline on your own machines, and data your community owns.See the work →

Talks, workshops, and facilitation

We offer talks and workshops on staying grounded and organized through climate, political, and tech disruption, with practical solutions rooted in mindfulness and connection.See the work →

Community engagement, planning, and asset mapping

Where would your communities go if a nearby river flooded? We help map risks and resources across your region with the people who live there, and build plans and offline tools that keep that information at hand in an emergency.See the work →

How that work happens

Workshops and Classes

We convene groups to reflect on how tech, climate, and other interwoven disruptions are affecting our lives, and to take intentional, concrete action.

  • Growing Up in the Age of AI: supporting parents and caregivers seeking ways to manage the impact of tech & AI for health, safety, and wellbeing, covering collective support and peer learning for parents and kids, the emotional impact and overwhelm of tech for families, and methods for growing community awareness and creating responsible local AI policies.
  • From Polycrisis to Polychrysalis: Connecting through portals of change and challenge: applying mindfulness methods to engage in organizing while staying grounded and intentional.
  • Tech Sovereignty with Kids: a 6-week class covering consentful tech, information & AI literacy, hands-on experimentation, & co-design of school policies, culminating in a DiscoTech (Discovering Technology Fair, with a DJ!)
  • Ethical and Safe Tech for Organizations: Tech governance support for organizations and community groups grappling with the pressures of AI-driven changing workflows, data vulnerability, surveillance risks, and the challenge of matching their tech with their ethics and missions.

Research & Development

We audit AI products in the wild, collaborate through participatory research and co-design, conduct digital ethnography, and build local, open AI tools so tech policy and product design answer to real needs.

Creative Practice

We create with all kinds of tech, from FM microbroadcasting to mesh wireless, inspiring dreams about how we might reimagine technology to be caring, community-led, and collectively imagined.

Somatic & Mindful Engagement

We bring breathing practice, skillful speech, and deep listening into our work with partners, rooted in Thich Nhat Hanh's mindfulness tradition, to reduce overwhelm and remember our interconnectedness with nature, the Earth, and each other as we hold challenging conversations.

We put our skills to work toward your mission.
